FLEGENE: relaxed French classes in Paris cafes
You’re in Paris, so why not practice your French à la française? Meet us for a relaxed chat, in French, about all kinds of subjects – current affairs, French culture, travel, work and leisure – wherever the discussion leads.
Fascinating conversation in a small group, full of laughs and cultural insights – all in French. The perfect immersive learning experience.
There will be 3-8 people, each with their own interesting story – living in Paris, visiting for a short or long stay, exploring or working. All meeting for the same reason: to practice and improve their spoken language skills. The relaxing environment and small size of the group are the ideal environment for speaking freely and confidently – the best way to improve your French.
Your prof is a true Parisienne, born and bred in the 15th arrondissement, teacher of FLE (Français langue étrangère) in Paris and London, and leader of her own wine appreciation French language courses. Geneviève invites you to join the group for a Cafe Conversation!

FLEGENE French language learning in action
Though it feels like a fun casual meeting, our little rendez-vous also has its serious side. Your prof will be taking note of all the small mistakes and interesting points of language that come up in the conversation. From time to time, we’ll review them on screen, and discuss as a group.
It’s a spontaneous way to get instant feedback on your language skills, while still being able to enjoy the flow of conversation.
You’ll learn: new vocabulary, useful points of grammar to have a natural conversation in French, expressions and turns of phrase très français, spelling and grammar, pronunciation tips, French slang.
Above all, you’ll improve your French by speaking the way the French speak when they meet their friends in the cafe – not what you’ve been taught in French class.
Feel free to ask questions about the things that you don’t understand, or for special tips to help you with the things that always catch you out. Take your own notes or ask the prof to send them to you at the end of the conversation.
Et voilà – everything you need to help you improve your French!
“La langue Française est une femme. Et cette femme est si belle, si fière, si modeste, si hardie, touchante, voluptueuse, chaste, noble, familière, folle, sage, qu’on l’aime de toute son âme, et qu’on n’est jamais tenté de lui être infidèle.”
FLEGENE meet other travellers, expats and French language learners
Besides improving your French, it’s also a great opportunity to meet other people who love travelling in France, who are living in Paris, or who share your passion for learning French. You may make new friends, find a travel buddy, or set up your own one-on-one language exchange!
Our conversations will take place in different cafes around the city, so you have the opportunity to explore different quartiers and discover new places. Each cafe has been chosen for its lovely, relaxing atmosphere, so we can échanger, bavarder, discuter, papoter, discuter le bout de gras…
To join our Cafe Conversation, you should have a basic knowledge of French.
If you have specific learning goals and you want to make speedy progress, one-on-one lessons may be for you. These can be held at a cafe or at home, and can be flexible, targeted to exactly the outcomes you seek.
3 wines / 3 cheeses
Why not enjoy some of France’s exceptional produce while improving your language skills? These special evenings take the form of the classic Cafe Conversation, with the added joy of discovering French terroir through a tasting of selected wines and cheeses. Every first and third Wednesday of each month !
The dégustation gives us the opportunity to explore specific wine-related vocabulary – how to observe, smell and taste wine. You’ll be able to order wine with confidence next time you’re at the cave à vins or bistrot
